The 2nd edition of the Kaptagat Forest Half Marathon takes place in Kaptagat in the Kenya highlands. The place, about 25kg to the East of Eldoret City, is perfect for high altitude training ground for short and long distance runners. Kaptagat C54 Road cuts through the region and is dotted by several shopping centres. Kaptagat is a rich sporting zone with sixteen athletic camps and several football teams located in villages near the forest and shopping centres lined up along the roads. The athletics training camps include Volare Sport’s Global Camp, Ricky Simms’ Pace Sports Management camp, Kip Atheltics Club, Dr. Rosa’s Nike camp and Complete Sports camp. Kaptagat Forest estimate terrain elevation of Kaptagat Forest is 2527 metres above sea level making the place a preferred high altitude training ground for both local and international long distance runners residing in these camps and those travelling from urban areas – Eldoret and Iten.
